HARDWICK; David Hardwick, who was also native-born, was 20 years of age when he was found guilty at HSC of Rape on 14 July 1874 and sentenced to 15 Years (a commutation) at Port Arthur. He arrived at CSG on 17 April 1877 with most of the Port Arthur prisoners. His warrant number was 872. Hardwick was a labourer, Catholic with no prior convictions and was illiterate. He was sent to the General Hospital three days later on the 20 April and is shown as being returned to CSG on 15 May 1878 [?] with the warrant number of 11872. Hardwick died at CSG at 9:30 p.m. on 9 May 1880. (Cause unknown.) |
