MORGAN; James

Although Morgan supposedly arrived in VDL aboard a ship called the Walrus, there is no record of any convict arriving on such a ship.  As Morgan was a free convict he probably arrived here from NSW.  On 7 May 1885 he was found guilty at New Norfolk of being Idle & Disorderly and was sentenced to 2 Months in gaol.  His warrant number was 15762.  He is shown as being 70 years of age, a labourer, Protestant with three or more prior convictions and was literate.  Morgan died at CSG on 17 May 1885.  (Cause unknown.)
