SUTHERLAND; James
Native-born Sutherland was 18 years of age when he appeared in the HSC on 15 May 1883 and was found guilty along with James Ogden, with murdering William Wilson at Cleveland. Both were sentenced to Death. Sutherland is shown as being a labourer, Protestant with no* prior convictions and was literate. Both men were executed at CSG on 4 June 1883.
*A James Sutherland aged 13 years was found guilty of being Idle etc. on 18 November 1878 and sentenced to 3 Months gaol. His warrant number was 12727.
